It's only been a week and a half, but it feels like months.
I've been on the road since May 10 for a combination of business and leisure (all mostly business) and I'm now delighted to be headed home.
When I tell people what I do, sometimes they say that it must be really cool to get to travel a lot. I'd agree--for the most part--but today is a day that I don't feel too happy. I'm just exhausted!
In summary, here's what I've done during this trip:
1 college graduation (my brother's in New Orleans)
1 great dinner in New Orleans- expensive, but great
1 graduation party
A road trip with the family and the dogs
A roundtrip flight from Pensacola to Ft. Lauderdale
The Governor's Hurricane Conference
Consumed gallons upon gallons of various liquors, beer, and wine. (some of it in one night, dear God I'm still paying for that)
Matched the above with equal amounts of coffee.
4 workshops
1 class training
11 nights in hotel rooms, 4 of them sleepless nights, 2 of them in HOTEL HELL.
One hot Subaru Tribeca, 1000+ miles of roads, no less than a dozen times getting lost, about two dozen u-turns, a horrific storm of love bugs through rural Martin County, a million-bug massacre on my windshield, and a few visits to car washes.
2 loads of laundry
5 mornings of great cooked-to-order breakfasts at the Embassy Suites, 2 blah breakfasts at the Holiday Inn, and some decent breakfasts at the Hampton Inn.
1 great LifeTeen mass in Port St. Lucie
1 drive to the beach
1 great visit to see old friends
3 quality hours to see my godson in 'Breeze.
6 lbs of Honduran coffee.... I went to my source in Palm Beach!
Hundreds of dollars on shoppping at Sawgrass Mills Outlet
Hundreds of dollars on restaurants, fast food outlets, grocery delis...which means a million calories consumed!
Whew... I'm sure there's more, but I have to get through the last of this journey.
